Hand Therapy

The hand and upper extremity program encompasses rehabilitation of the entire upper extremity ‘shoulder to fingertips’. This includes the hand, elbow, and shoulder.

Leigh R. Moore, OTR is the Director of Hand Therapy. She graduated from Texas Tech University Health Science Center in 1993 with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy. Leigh has 25 years of experience in the specialty of hand and upper extremity therapy. She has been affiliated with RPSC Hand Rehabilitation since 2004 when she moved to the DFW area from Austin. She has advanced skills in both static and dynamic splinting as well as a variety of progressive hand and upper extremity therapy treatments. Before relocating to the DFW area, she worked in Austin and its surrounding area as a hand therapist supervisor, area hand therapy manager as well as clinical manager for Healthsouth (formerly Rehability) and St. David’s North Austin Medical Center. She also worked as a consultant with Ergowellness, doing ergonomic assessments and onsite therapy services for many companies including Apple Computers, Motorola, City of Austin, Tellabs, and Dupont Photomasks.

Melissa Peavey, OTR, CHT is our primary Rockwall Hand Therapist. Melissa comes to RSPC Hand & U.E. Rehabilitation with over 30 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist and a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) for 18 years. She worked in hospital therapy centers including Scott and White in Temple, THR Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and the Dallas Rehabilitation Institute. Her advanced skills include simple and complex dynamic and static splinting, as well as a variety of progressive hand and upper extremity treatments. She served as a faculty adjunct at Texas Woman’s University. Melissa has been involved with the arthritis community through the Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals and Arthritis Foundation. She currently serves on the advisory board for “Arthritis Today” magazine.

Mallory Hardin COTA, CLT has been employed with RPSC Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation since early 2016. In addition to working with upper extremity patients, she is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. This certification includes manual lymphatic drainage and complete decongestive therapy. As a CLT at RPSC, her primary focus is with our breast cancer patients. She has previous experience in out patient and inpatient settings. Mallory is a graduate from Navarro College.
